I would say that we are driven by everything that is in our minds, hearts, bodies, and souls. I've had to learn through a very good friend that egos are a part of us, no matter whether we deny it or not. Too much ego is harmful, but having no ego is dangerous to us also. Ego's simply need to be kept in check, so that they don't overrun us. I also think that we don't really make an effort to seriously determine what ego is, in contrast to confidence, self-love, or self-faith. We often tend to dismiss all three as ego, when ego is something that God placed in us as a different emotion than the other three. In life you must have length, breadth and height. length meaning ego, breadth meaning love for your neighbour(agape) and height meaning the love for God. Very often too many people concentrate on the length of life and neglect the rest, or vice versa. This leads to an imbalance in humans. If the love for the self, others, and God were in harmony, there world would be a great place!

I am wondering where it fits in. This is a very Buddhist sounding outlook. I do take issue with your statement "the right way" because it sounds judgemental. furthermore it sounds like you are empowering yourself to be judge. This is a very dangerous position you appear to have put yourself in. I also at the same time realize that this trap is all to easy to fall into because as hard as I try not to, it is inevitable that I will pass judgement on people. I would like to think that I do it infrequently but I am most likely fooling myself on that issue. But in truth judgement is best left to the hands of God. DB
