All I have are my words
And I hope they are enough
To Matter.
I am but a simple poet
With a complex mission:
To spit words of God-given
Insight and wisdom
To free souls
That are imprisoned
And anyone else
That needs to listen.
My expressions
Bear objections
To ever-present oppressions,
Bring forth spiritual gems
That shine as lessons
Which answer questions,
And brings issues to light
That the public
Needs to be addressing.
Justice, Freedom, and Equality
Are the main points I'm stressing
With agression
To help forward positive progressions,
But all I have are my words,
And I hope they are enough
To matter;
Enough to make you
More earnest in your prayers,
Enough to make you
Think and act carefully
Because you care,
Rather than choosing
To remain complacent,
Dwelling in deep pits of despair.
I'm hear to tell our stories
So future generations
Won't repeat our mistakes,
Remind them of the reasons why
Their dreams, they cannot forsake.
I've resolved myself to this purpose
For my family, for my people,
And for my spiritual kindred's sake.
But all I have are my words
And I hope they are enough
To matter.
And to keep my words
From becoming idle chatter,
I read, observe, and obtain data,
Filter out the garbage
And retain what matters.
The connect my spiritual needle
To my wrist and pencil
So on paper,
The words can freely splatter,
Because I believe
We can change things.
I've read about and seen
Positive united people
Doing wonderfully strange things.
And I truly pray and hope
That we are ready to change scenes
To a place of peace,
Rather than pain,
Free from the poisons
Of today's mainstreams.
This is why I strive.
As a poet, my drive
Lies in the chance to change lives.
And although I plan to expand
To increase my proficiency
In obeying God's assigned commands,
Let it be known that
Seeing him glorified
With the change of one life
Means much more to me
Than making my pockets fatter.
Because
All I have are my words
And I hope they are enough
To matter.
